A family bakery since 1992

Three brothers, a sister and their parents. Still family, still on North 8th.

Richard and Teresa Podedworny opened Northside Bakery in 1992 in Greenpoint, for a neighborhood that missed the taste of home. Within a year the bakery had outgrown its space and moved to the North Side of Williamsburg, which gave us our name.

The family put their talents together and earned "The Best Bread in Brooklyn." We still run the bakery today.

The neighborhood has changed a lot since then, and so have we. Alongside the rye and the pączki you'll now find a hot food bar, American cakes and a market full of European groceries. And the stoop out front is still where the neighborhood likes to sit.
